Finding the true market price of electricity is a bit more difficult than it might seem to be. In Venezuela, of course, it was pretty clear that they had nothing close to a market rate because of the subsidies. But in many localities and regions, even here in the U.S., electric companies tend to be granted monopolies by the local or state government, and then said government "regulates" them, allegedly for the consumers' protection. In reality, they're limiting the competition in the electricity industry and making the industry more political than it needs to be, making it harder not only to find the market price, but also in justifying price increases for things like infrastructure maintenance and increasing the production of electricity, when needed.

It's funny, ironic even, how some people want governments to do this or that to interfere in the bitcoin markets, and then complain about people not paying the "true costs" for the good or service that the government has intervened in. It's almost like they want government to try to simulate a free market, which of course it can never do, as market prices are the result of the market process, not the political process. As always, governments and their policies and regulations provide restrictions and limitations. It's in the competitive marketplace that businesses and people strive to overcome restrictions and limitations.
