English Premier League Result: Fulham 1-5 Arsenal Date: 07 October 2018 Venue: Craven Cottage
Arsenal claimed a ninth successive win in all competitions after they thumped Fulham 5-1 at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.Fulham asked the earlier questions when Luciano Vietto made space to unleash a shot that deflected off Skhodran Mustafi for Bernd Leno to save for a corner in sbo the opening five minutes.Arsenal were not able to find any control on the ball whenever on the attack, with the main culprits Alex Iwobi, Alexandre Lacazette and Granit Xhaka. The Gunners drew first blood when Iwobi set-up Nacho Monreal to put in a low cross into the box, which met Lacazette for a near-post finish on 29 minutes.Iwobi was at the heart of another move after setting up Monreal to set in a low cross which sailed across the box with Henrikh Mkhitharyan lurking dangerously.\Andre Schurrle levelled for Fulham two minutes to halftime after running behind the defence to dink over an on-rushing Leno. The two sides returned unchanged from the break, with Arsenal looking to regain the lead almost instantaneously.Hector Bellerin managed to hit a half-volley from just inside the box, but sbo the goalkeeper punched clear. The lead was restored on 49 minutes when Lacazette cut inside from the right to creep in the bottom right corner of Marcus Bettinelli. The Cottages made the first change of the game. Tim Ream made way for Boubacar Kamara on 54 minutes. In the 61st minute, it was time for Unai Emery to introduce his first substitution and Danny Welbeck with his first league start made way for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The balance of the game remained in the Gunners favour, but Fulham still looked threatening on a few occasions.A minute from replacing Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey finished off a delightful move involving a string of passes from defence to the final third to give Arsenal a healthy lead on 67 minutes.Given his bit-part role over the last few years, that finish from Ramsey showed he deserves more than just a few minutes on the field as Fulham contemplated a come back. That was brought to end permanently when Aubameyang sbo controlled and turned inside the box to finish in the bottom left corner a few minutes to go.There was no end to onslaught as Arsenal took control of every situation on the field, with Aubameyang completing his brace with an easy one-on-one finish to round off the match.
